I misspoke, my fault. It's moreso tribal thinking than actual structure(s), even though there's a fair amount of overlap. It's a hodgepodge of various things like bottlenecks in the decision making(the big man has to be involved in everything + subordinates wanting to make big man decisions, ego battling ego), nepotism, debt handicaps like the Francophone stupidity with their former colonies, a reliance on outsiders for the tools for defense, and on and on and on.

I agree with what @theworldismine13 said regarding other pieces to the puzzle. Substitute China for Africa(just one example) and they'd have held the world hostage long since. They already have the manufacturing nailed down, the scientists, the universities to produce more educated people, their military is squared away, etc etc. Africa has any number of engineers, scientists and universities but nowhere near the level of manufacturing needed...and relatively few African nations produce their own weapons. That last bit of know-how has always been tightly controlled.

What I strongly disagree with is the idea that African nations need to emulate western countries to somehow "win" or "succeed". That is a sure path to doom. All that would result is a repetition of previous/ongoing mistakes with whatever African flavours tacked on. A better idea would be to rethink what success even means before rushing off to go chase the money. Satellites make little difference if your water sources have all vanished, or you've killed off all the fish.
I definitely agree with his point about the military too. It’s hard to get around b/c as many other posters have said, the world ain’t gon let Africa just chuck deuces and bow out peacefully.
I mean we already established how much of the world’s quality of life is directly linked to African resources and human capital.

But I TOTALLY agree with u on ur concept of “success” which we are totally brainwashed about in the West. It’s scary that we can’t even imagine progress in a different context.

@Booksnrain are you going to ASALH in Charleston this week?

But to answer the question, it would spell war and destabilize the developing countries faster than the US. But eventually they will invade for the resources, capitalism been dependent on exploiting Africa since it took off in the 14-1500s.

Really?! I’ve always wondered about the undercurrents behind political leadership in 3rd world countries. Does the West just assassinate anybody who ain’t on board with their agenda or target them with media propaganda to justify our military presence and destabilization of their countries?

Could u expound on this?

not sure if serious :dwillhuh:

Take a look at any textbook in English outside(quite possibly in French and Spanish as well, if I were to guess) of the US for the last half century that teaches children about basic human needs. It's always listed as "food, clothing and shelter". None of them ever point out that all of that needs to be defended if they are to be enjoyed.

You'll never hear that foolishness in, for example, Israel. There's a reason.

Nah but a lot of my folks are presenting, I wanted to sit out until NCBS

also as a prerequisite to this, I think Africans should convene and discuss redrawing national borders and nullifying the Berlin Conference of 1886. What would Africa look like as a continent of 100+ potential nations versus currently? It would definitely allow for more international political power

A prosperous African populace would still need a global marketplace for its products and services. Can't have one without the other.

This thread echoes the same isolationist shyt that Trump's been selling to his rural base.

Be the No.1 producer of soy in the whole world, while still actively beefing with the Top 2 importers (China & Mexico) brehs.

According to population growth estimates, this global market dependence thesis doesn't look that rock solid :usure: Especially if a new development paradigm is defined and adopted.
