It's important to acknowledge, especially with how the world is today, black excellence no matter where it was born. However, this brilliance not coming from a black country definitely can't be dismissed. How this improves the black community also has to be assessed.
I don’t think it’s missed upon anyone that Nigerians are highly intelligent. The accomplishments and accolades are great, but in the end, what are the fruits? What is the legacy?
A while ago, I read something about the smartest family in the UK were Nigerians. Nigerians took to comments saying “oh how this family was a blessing for Nigeria” and “oh how our people are blessed” and I’m like how? Your countrymen are not collectively benefiting from your talents.
It’s a perpetuation of colonialism that not only did western powers extract resources from West African countries, they are continually extracting the best of West African human capital.

And we do it to Aframs too. You can be the most pro-Black freedom fighter, donated millions to Howard and the UNCF, knew MLK and Malcolm X, worked as a community organizer in Baltimore and went to South Africa to help fight against Apartheid....
