The worst part of the Clipse album…is Pharrell’s voice. We need an intervention.

This shyt was cool for NERD. It was cool for some solo projects. I can not tolerate this fake ass falsetto thats out of key and struggling and fukking uninspiring or unremarkable. It’s atrocious and would have easily been substituted by a stronger singer. They even had The Dream vocals on there, which would have been no issue to revisit for other vocal parts of the album.

I know that the homie and all but…they needed to pull Pharrell off that mic. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. It’s been almost 30 years of pretending this nikka can sing. It was a gimmick that no one really checked cause we liked the beats. If it’s not for the production no one is letting him near a mic. Period.

I will admit that the singing in the new record is annoying on a couple of the tracks but I put that more down to the space he’s currently in - as Creative Director at LV he’s not talking as crazy as he was on the first two records but his hooks and Adlibs on LW, HHNF and other tracks around that era are fukking classic:

It always felt so tongue-in-cheek though. Like, we’re going along with it because it’s intentionally positive, not because it’s some sonic masterpiece. It felt accessible and inclusive.
