the benefit we got is more like emergency unemployment. they didn't do the one time stimulus as well like the U.S. that is non taxable. Technically anyone can apply because they are approving everyone but you will owe back next tax year if you applied without being "qualified". while the $1200 us stimulus is not tied to unemployment in the U.S.
The People that got 4k were paid for March and April. The max they said they are paying out is 8k total over 16 weeks, so they already go half of their eligible total amount... I'm sure some people will take the whole amount and be red next year.
