Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
why u keep making this lie up, every ross album has gone gold :camby:

nikka is seriously running wit that shyt :wtf:

but lets act like jeezy and aint drop 5 mixtape between trap or die 2 and tm103
you're absolutely right and i'm totally wrong on the gold records

but lets not act like gold is platinum... jeezy still got all platinum albums except 1 that went gold

he's only dropped 10 OFFICIAL mixtapes in his life.. so how you got to 5, i don't know... those "DJ Nobody" mixes don't count

but being that you right, still doesn't change my point one bit... cause a rapper selling less albums, but keeping his buzz alive with mixtapes and videos on worldstar, is always gonna have a bigger buzz

cause you never let your fans forget your name. they say when people STOP talking about you, that's when you have a problem.

rap is now the, "drop a new song with every hot nikka in the game on it.... every 2 weeks" genre. you couldn't tell me a single hot record you was bumping in march, that wasn't a lead single.. shyt even lead singles from march, no longer get any spins

so what you think is gonna happen when you literally have no new music dropped for a year or two??

and again.... mixtapes are label free music.. nothing needs cleared or permission.. no paperwork... and you can use those numbers to raise your prices on shows and features, not to mention the constant talk from fans and the press.

In order fro your album to move units, you need to get a fanbase.... from mixtapes. So you end up releasing mixtapes. Mixtapes are good for picking up momentum. What tends to happen with good mixtapes is that there's a big delay between that and the album which is normally a little worse. At which point the mixtape should've been the album.

Ross is probably a decent example. He doesn't have to do mixtapes. At least the AA/RF types which would make decent albums. The Ashes 2 Ashes and other tapes are more remixes and such which is cool. But it can work either way. Ross used the momentum from AA due to BMF/MC Hammer for Teflon Don's success. There was too a big a gap from Rich Forever to GFID.
