:manny: If that's how you feel...i know it's shocking to some that these rarefied, canonized albums have people that don't think they're perfection...especially the jaded curmudgeon types like Big Mel who were the 90's versions of the countless jaded curmudgeons that constantly whine and bytch about contemporary shyt today

I used to really like doggystyle when I was a kid. Now, I can only listen to "ain't no fun" and "doggy dogg world".

I never went to bat for em's beats like that, just the fact that a lot of his best songs are on his own stuff which is why I don't mind when he has a hand full or so of his own tracks.

As for doggystyle, it's a difference between something being dated or specific to a particular era and being wack.

Murder was the case is not a song i'm going to just listen to at random, nothing to do with the beat being wack but more so because it's not recreational. It's heavy, you don't have to even listen to it to remember how it made you felt. And yes I liked the lodi dodi cover

I'll give you serial killer, nothing average or wack about those other joints.

they're all listenable songs given how utterly fantastic that entire period of G Funk was but those 4 weakish songs in the middle of the album are what i imagine was the initial reason for not the album being hailed the classic the hype warranted.

i also guarantee i love this album more than half the bozos in this thread. i'm baggin' words, cadences AND accents with ease on 75-80% of this bytch.

:dead: at someone saying Tha Shiznit is bad. May be my favorite Snoop song EVER.. As for OP, I'll confess that I skip What's My Name damn near every time I play the record (I've NEVER liked that song for some reason). La Di Da Di is kind of whatever to me, but I play it. However, I like Serial Killa, and while I prefer the SDTRK version of Murder Was The Case, I never skip this version.

I like how ppl are reacting like Mel's opinion is fact though. Smarten up.
