Also, is it really some wild, new shyt to find out that a lot of people take issue with "classic" albums? I can name a dozen I think are wack all the way through. And some of the same cats getting their panties in a bunch over this I've seen in other threads shytting on other classics. shyt, I remember when I made a thread about how laughably bad Warren G's Regulate album was - had nikkas coming for my head and shyt, no homo.

:lolbron:

lol @ some of these responses. "Hey guys, I think there are four average tracks in a row IMO" "KILL THE OP WHAT A MORON". The breh claiming the Snoop version of La Di Da Di >>> Slick Rick version is more horrible a claim than anything Mel said.

the 'general public' is probably more familiar with Gin & Juice. probably because like Mel pointed out, it's a better song

"Who Am I (What's My Name)?" was the first single released from the album on November 30, 1993. It peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts, and reached number one on the Hot Rap Singles. It is largely recognised as the album's 'leading single', and the RIAA certified it Gold on February 8, 1994. It was certified Platinum later the same year, and Triple Platinum by 1997.[22] It reached number 20 on the UK Singles Chart in 1994 and re-entered the chart in 2004, reaching number 100.[23][24] In terms of critical reception and the volume of sales, it is Snoop's most successful single to date. "Gin and Juice" was the second single released on January 15, 1994. Like the previous single, it was a hit on multiple charts. It reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, number 13 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, number one on Hot Rap Singles, and number 39 on the UK Singles Chart.[23][25] The RIAA certified it Platinum on April 6, 1994.[22

i think it is very safe to say that anyone who thinks doggystyle has 4 average tracks total, let alone in a row, is an absolute moron

I stand by what I said. What's My Name probably sold more because a lot of people already had album when Gin & Juice dropped. and I was speaking on what song the 'general public' is more familiar with today

I don't think many people in here are chitting on it.

it was definitely popular amongst black people. but it had that x-factor for white appeal which made the song 'way bigger than it should've been'.....for the lack of a better term. you watch a '90s throwback countdown like what mtv jams had a couple weeks ago, and that chit was in the top 10.

its not really a knock on snoop or anybody. a lot of artists have songs like these. geto boys had one, DMX, bone thugs, etc etc. i'll even go as far as to say that snoop had one of the better songs in this category.

I mean, I loved the song as a kid. nowadays, I still like it but I usually skip it when I listen to the album, or turn the channel when I see the video come on. its still the chit but it wasn't really THAT CHIT looking back. it wasn't "gin & juice".

yea, I was saying earlier that I listen to "ice froggy frog" more than "whats my name" in hindsight.

Anyone with basic beat discerning capabilities 101 can call murder was the case the corny beat that it is. a lot of you are lowest common denominator fans though.

the remix or video version with the tweaked rhythm was an improvement on the sorry original.

Where many murders occur
so basically youre upset that the first single from the album is the song thats most known by the general public? this basic fact of life seems to really upset you? :what:

snoop was the first mega star that crossed over, why thats being held against him i dont know

whats my name is better than 99% of all hip hop singles ever released

compare it to any of the singles that the greats have dropped...its up there amongst the best
:what:

TF is wrong wit you, nikka? I don't give a fukk that WMN was most popular, I'm just sayin that it's annoying when cacs jump on a tune and spaz out over it. WMN is NOT better than 99% of hip hop singles. That was a retarded statement. I'd put WMN at no better than 75% than all singles. It ain't all that.

Like an earlier poster said, the cacs made it bigger than it should have been. That goes for 99% of music, period. Music's popularity is oftentimes dictated by cacs, who know fukk all about music to begin with. They're a bunch of clueless hyperspazes.

So it's sad when better music gets pushed to the side because cacs don't get it. They don't understand what's good or not. They're idiots. And songs that are just ok all of a sudden turn into "OMG like the best of all time, dude!!" because of the cacs.
