pop music doesn't seem to have the issue
Sabrina, Chappel Roam, Tate, Billie
all young-mid gen z
None of them are celebrities, though. They're famous, but when you look at the 80s, you had MJ, Prince, Madonna, Bruce, Stevie, Phil Collins, Whitney, Aretha and so many others running around at the same time. Literal attractions, larger than life godlike figures.
The truth is, most people don't want to know more about artists than they have to. There aren't any gods, no more superheroes. Billie was the hottest thing going when she dropped her first album. Ever since then, she's been around, but she doesn't feel like this mega star. The only ones who do are Beyonce and Taylor, and they're from a completely different era when we still looked at celebrities as superheroes. A lot of these artists are going to have their moment and then they'll just be around.
