if there was a large number of female bedroom producers who quit as they grew up, i would be more inclined to agree with this argument. but i dont see that. i dont even see some notable group of underground female producers doing their own thing away from any gatekeepers. the pipeline appears to be an issue.
You can’t develop a pipe if women don’t see it as realistic or see it marketed toward them. I played piano growing up and would make my own songs, I wanted to produce but literally stopped because there weren’t any female producers so I figured it was unrealistic. Chicks have these thoughts…it’s not that it’s a geeky pursuit, it’s simply not considered an option by most. Then you add on the gender dynamic and that’s a lot for a girl flying solo to navigate

She's still ahead of her time and her music practically created more subgenres.

Male producers would be lucky to even have a legacy like that.

Now every female producer gets compared to her.

In terms of household names though, shyt in 2022 there are not many male household name producers.
