one of my favorite quotes is: "Either we're alone in the universe or we're not, and both are equally terrifying"

How is being alone terrifying? Terrifying is seeing an alien come to earth, because i know no matter what if he got here he can destroy the planet in one second.

Pretty much. It's damn near impossible to fully quantify. But the other side is out of 2 trillion galaxies we live in one, next to one star that has 8 planets and countless moons. Yet our one planet with water has life and we can't even reach our next star and think the planet next to us may still harbor life. Pretty damn incredible what is out there.:francis:

You know what's even more of a trip, all of Star Trek focused on the Milky Way galaxy. They never explored another galaxy, only the planets in our own..
that's cuz even traveling at the speed of light it would take 100,000yrs to cross the milky way :wow:
kind of a bummer when you think about it

our only hope is wormholes
