That's because there is 0 innovation these days. Video games have become the Slam Dunk Contest. We've seen all of these moves before and are just bored now :mjcry:
That's absolutly not true.

Maybe if you are playing the same games every year.

But there's plenty of innovation. You just gotta step outside your own personal comfort level.

Then show me the path breh:snoop:

My gripe with games today is theres like 4 types of games these days. FPS (Fallout, COD, etc. etc. etc. :comeon:), Open sprawl RPG (The Witcher, Bloodborne, Elder Scrolls, DS, etc.:ld:), Racing (:russell:) or Open world action adventure games (Uncharted, GTA, Tomb Raider:obama:).

Even the games I like/enjoy, I'm not blown away by :yeshrug:

I think I'm just :flabbynsick: brehs :to:

I agree with the thread title though. The only reason why I don't own a Ps4 or Xbone is because every hyped game has turned out pretty terrible or underwhelming. But then again, it'd be interesting to know how old you brehs are. I'm 30, so every new game is some shyt I have seen many times before.

Well obviously there's established genres that most games fit into. But there is innovation within those genres if you go for those games.

For example FPS is an established genre and COD come every year with pretty much the same shyt.

But there's also games like Titanfall, superhot, and dying light that take the FPS genre and make it new again.

Or for racers. Yes need for speed is the same shyt every year, but Forza Horizon 2 brung innovation and technical advances to the genre and gaming in general.

Open world games are generally similar, but sunset overdrive turns the formula on its head and brings 3d platforming to the genre.

Life is strange is an achievement in story telling that other games can't match.

There's plenty. You just gotta step outside the every year COD, Madden, 2K, asscreed. Cycle.

:ehh:

I been fiending for more since I beat LIS.

Might need to make moves to get until dawn.
Until Dawn alone is not good enough to get a PS4 but its a good start. What made Until Dawn special to me was not only the graphics and the story, but the way the choices were handled. The outcome of the game isn't so much based on choice A leads to choice B and ultimately choice C. It was more about your choices affecting the personality of each character causing them to make their own choices based on the situations you manipulated. It made the entire game feel fresh and more like I was controlling the events in an actual movie vs picking choices in a video game that was trying to be a movie.
The acting and plot is very B-movie and that was done both intentionally and very well. It's a game everyone should experience at least once to see how far story telling in video games has gotten. Until Dawn, Heavy Rain, and The Wolf Among Us have been my favorite games in this genre. (I haven't played tales from borderlands yet because Im waiting on the physical copy that they announced recently.)

But there's Rocket League...but that's on PC.:patrice:

Then there's MGSV...but that's also on PC and last gen consoles.:patrice:

The Witcher 3 is great....but that's also on PC:patrice:

Rise of the Tomb Raider is pretty decent...but it's on the PC (and 360 for some reason):patrice:

The plethora of indie games.....that are also on PC.:patrice:

Arkham Knight is ok-ish...at least the PC version is trash.:ehh:

I guess that just leaves Bloodborne.:ld:

UC4; Ratchet and Clank, Last Guardian??

This gen hasn't produced an A+ AAA game yet. Something that makes you wake up early from sleep to play. Something that has your mind occupied while you out and about.
Something that you feel confident enough to say "next gen is here."

Bloodborne pretty much carrying this generation on it's back along with The Order and Killzone Shadowfall.

You know it's bad when you got known Xbots borrowing PS4's just to at least play the shyt :wow:
