There's a poster on a Jets forum I'm on that is plugged in (has connections to people within the Jets as well as around the league). Apparantly Bieniemy has interviewed poorly with everyone. This is what he said...

I would be inclined to agree with you but one of those teams he interviewed with is the Detroit Lions. We just hired our second black general manager. We've already had a black coach. Two minority coaches by including Wayne Fontes, who is Cape Verdean. So, we may put out a horrible product annually on the field, we've been pretty progressive off the field. It's anecdotal due to one team but at least there, race, I'm sure, wasn't an issue. I think that the concerns are legit here. Breh doesn't know how to sell himself.

Exactly i interviewed for a manager position 2 rounds. I crushed it. Did case study and talked through it. Guy said i killed it but didnt think i would be a good fit. I said ok why. Couldnt tell why i wouldnt be a good fit. I would take it if i screwed out or didnt answer. How am i supposed to take that. Nfl had to put rooney rule plus sweeten it with picks.

Respect to bowles. Told the lions to fukk off. I aint doing a token interview

Ability to communicate with the brass is key. I'm black and I just got hired by a 60 year old German CFO to be her right hand man as the controller. It's how you interview brehs. When it comes to these things, winning tends to matter a lot more than the color of your skin. Don't get me wrong, cism will never die but one thing I've learned as I continue to go up this corporate ladder is that as long as you can do the job, they don't give a damn who you are.
It's all circumstantial and dependent on the organization. I worked for one company with a white owner and he had no problem giving me opportunity and I worked my way up to being third in the organizational power structure. We got bought out by a bigger corporation and when it comes to reshuffle the deck I wasn't even given an interview to lead our area. Instead they interviewed a bunch of white guys who didn't have near the responsibility that I carried. This was years ago. In the last couple of months in a one-on-one I got the current COO to flat out admitted there was a lot of racism prevalent at the executive level of our company and how black people basically had no shot of making it to that level in the past regardless of how great of a worker we were.

The real problem is that there aren't more black folks in the position to make the hires. A lot of hiring is based on narcissism of those doing the hiring and wanting to hire someone that reminds them of themselves, so they'll give a less qualified white man a job simply cause they see something they like in them or just like the way they carry themselves.

There's huge difference between HC and OC/DC. HC is like the manager. Their job is to supervise everyone.

Alotta coordinators who got HC jobs failed because.....They're meant to be coordinators. Nothing wrong with that...play your position.

Reading that article, son sounds like a coordinator. He doesn't see the entire picture as an executive needs too. Iono maybe he needs to get a lil older. Those of you who work and moved up in your jobs from employee to supervisor to manager, etc., you know there’s different mentalities and a person must be ready for what it entails.

The reason these average cacs get a shot is, they know how to play a game we as black men usually won't. It is what it is.

And besides cacs own all this, if we want to buck we need to create our own.
