Lance Storm: "There's not really a thing of being a draw anymore because used to it was who can work with Hogan or Austin and make the most money. Now they're gonna make money regardless. So the new measuring stick is yeeting and singing the entrance song and that's how they rank people as stars"

It’s been this way for a while. It’s why The Rock only wants to come back and work a Wrestlemania.

I would’ve liked to have seen The Rock vs Roman Reigns headline a ppv like boxers do and see what the buys look like.

Nah..the Rock appearances will definitely be a more packed show than what we've been getting..Uso is very over and definitely a TV draw for them compared to Blandy, Priest, Tiffany...

All the whining about the Rock not being at WM...people obviously paid thinking he was apart of the package. They thought wrong and their regular stars were underwhelming across the board.

This is patently false and I don't know what the belief is about.

If WWE, aew, tna, has a card on tv, ppv, or in your city, and one card is as follows:

The rock vs. ???
Cena vs ???
Bobby lashley vs ???
Pentagon Jr vs ???
Toni storm vs ???
Kenny Omega vs ???
Vikingo vs ???

And one card is

Nathan Fraser vs ???
Dakota Kai vs ???
El Nino Hamburgesa vs???
Rock n roll express vs ???
Tanga loa vs ???
Bollywood boys vs ???

In the same city. In the same night.

Who will get more attention and draw more money?

Why?

And to lances point, you can have the same opponents on the other side, so it's equal...is he upset that it's just not workrate or something?

He has a bit of a point. In the US, outside of the indies, the industry has shifted to media rights money being the biggest driver of revenue by a very significant margin.

Like AEW, for example, could do a million dollar gate for every taping, including PPV, and it wouldn't come anywhere close to how much money they make off their media rights. And unless AEW were to get canceled, that's guaranteed money no matter who is on each show.

I think what he's saying is in the past you make Diesel the guy and you can start losing money. Now if you make Jungle Boy the guy you don't really lose money you maybe leave money on the table but you don't lose any cause the tv deals are so crazy.

Stating there's no such thing as a draw is maybe an oversimplification though. The concept needs a reframing. Austin vs Roman does big business and gets a lot more eyeball than Austin vs Wheelr Yuta. Omega vs Moxley probably does better business than Omega vs random Flippy bum.

You could make the argument that tv deals have made the product worse cause it allows both companies to stick with shyt that may not be working longer than they may have in the past.

He's right, none of the modern day guys are bigger than the company. I think Reigns had the potential to do that, but him not being full time/ getting his huge match vs the Rock may have killed that.

Cody Rhodes is not a draw. If Cody Rhodes got hurt last year Rock vs Reigns would've went off without a hitch and the product today would be better. They let that nepo baby politick his way to the top and become the worst champ since Diesel.

The event itself has become the draw vs. any specific wrestler.

This is intentionally obtuse breh. Youre going with an event of proven main event pushed talent vs lower to mid card talent and calling it the same. Thats not what Lance Storm is saying. He is saying that if you come up with something fans get behind, even something as simple as a single word and ride the wave, you can be a main eventer. The "it factor" died because now its about content and engagement which is true.

Bear in mind, if Toni Storm never left WWE shed be on that bottom card. Perception has always been everything.

Guess Rock isn’t a draw either? Bald faggit pulled out of WM39 and it went off without a hitch

Not to mention Black Adam bombing :mjpls:
