There’s people who regularly finish reading a book in one sitting

There's no way you can really comprehend whatever it is you're reading that fast. I mean maybe stories, but I doubt a motherfukker can read a whole cook book and know how to make everything in it without looking back for reference

Your mom wasn't taking you to the Manhattan or Brooklyn Library?

My parents realised that I was reading way faster than they could afford so the downtown (Cleveland) library was my go to place.
I lived at the library. In fact, i always had the unrestricted card so i could take out anything. I actually volunteered there for a while too, mending old books. That's how i got the super dope hook up to 'preview' the 10 cent books before they were put out. (But I wasnt greedy.)

But, still, i went through them too fast. Plus, sometimes i wanted shyt they didn't have. Textbooks on ancient Egypt and stuff. I wasn't even 10 yet, so clearly i had no money of my own. Not textbook money.

When i was like 12, my God mother was gon take us to the beach. The night before, i had stayed up reading an old nursing textbook that was in the house (don't ask me why). We went to the beach, nikkas got sun burned. Crazy, cuz we didn't even know that could happen. Nobody knew what to do.

But i did. :youngsabo:

If you not taking notes as you read your understanding and retention of the book is severely limited

Speak for yourself B :yeshrug:

I was the laziest student/class clown because I could retain the necessary info quickly. We not all built the same :mjlit:

On a serious note, empathy and being able to put yourself in the situations of your book are vital for retention as a speed reader, for me anyways.

Retention and comprehension are two different things
Salute to you if you can but most speed readers are not paying attention to themes
Usually they’re the type of people who read books and watch movies only once

I read the same book several times. My mother thought there was something wrong with me, but she spoke to a psychologist friend who told her that i was re reading for different reasons. I was learning how the author crafted the storyline, how they laid it out, etc. I became a pretty good writer as a result.

Apples and oranges fam. A cook book is very precise. Speed reading doesn't require that level of precision when it's your run-of-the-mill novel.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
I’m currently reading Robert Moses book now and do not believe someone can read this book in one day.

I also read all the Harry Potter books as a youngster also and couldn’t imagine someone reading it one sitting but then again maybe it’s just me.
