I have a dunk that will kill the contest forever. Nobody could ever top it.

Crispness
nothing left to do in terms of dunking

There is one frontier that has been left unexplored.

Visualize this:

Have you ever seen anyone dunk a basketball…

with their feet??

I just blew your mind pause…

If you lined up every NBA dunk contest that's existed, you'd see they were bad more often than they were good.

You had Mike and Nique giving you excellent showtime, with couple more stars joining in the 80s.

Then the 90s dunk contests sucked, like all of them, even though it had couple great names like Kemp.

Then Vince Carter brought it back, followed by excellent Jason Richardson performances. Even Dwight one was cool in 08.

Then mediocre again until Lavine and Gordon. Now after that it's back to mediocrity again with irrelevant names.

That situation where Wade gave a Miami Heat player higher score made quite a few quit the dunk contest cause even those judges can't rate them dunks properly.

Nobody cares about this contest anymore. No star wants to fail the dunk attempt cause they care about internet gossip, no star wants to risk getting injured.
3pt shootout also loses its appeal when Sunday main event will be nothing but 3pt shootout with no defense.

I think ppl still find appeal in the 3 point shootout, even more so than Sunday night in some ways simply because it does feel like contestants take it more seriously.

I agree with the dunk contest though; even if you got Zion and Ja this year… Zion has that one dunk he’ll do, which is just the lefty version of VC’s 360 windmill from 2000. Ja is kinda like Derrick Rose, Baron Davis and Steve Francis where -absent someone for them to posterize- them has a participant is more cool in concept than reality.

Long story short, it wouldn’t be any dunks from them (Zion, Ja) that we haven’t already seen and we’d be right back to mediocre no-names the very next year
