I’ve been to EDM Festivals
You have ALL walks of life there
All types of crowds
Especially for large festivals like EDC because they fly in from everywhere
I have too and they're mainly oversaturated with white and asian audiences.
I'm (technically) an EDM DJ and producer.
Black people ain't at these things in large numbers unless it's Movement in Detroit or the Chosen Few festival in Chicago or the many House Music festivals in the ATL. Or in the classic throwdowns in New York or Jersey.
You never see Black people at these things like that...and it doesn't help that the promoters themselves don't really book any Black DJs or Producers.
They'll have Uniique or Carl Cox and Friends (but that's a mainstay at damn near every EDM/Techno festival he's an icon in the game) or they'll have DJ Diesel, or an MK or Green Velvet...but forreal...with the way contemporary EDM is and has become...Black people have become an afterthought.
Keeping it a buck, most Black folks don't have $600 for just General admission tickets, then money for hotel and airfare and extras for festivals like this.
I don't like going to these festivals as a Black person in this massive sea of white folks just for the only other Black people I see there to be working at the food stands or working security...just makes the vibe uncomfortable.
You wouldn't get that though cause you ain't black...so Imma stop there.
