What was Powers original role? Did he give RZA the money to start Wu-Tang?

He was Rae's partner in the streets. Rae, Power, U-God and Cappa were in with the Italians through a dude named Mike (same mike from the Village Voice article u might be familiar with). For all we know...Rza was mob funded.

I know they all used to run together, but it seems Power had more money around that time and probably funded RZA. That would be the only way his involvement makes sense since he wasn't bringing anything to the table.

I know RZA brought in Divine to help with management as well.

Yea, i never really heard the full story on how Power bacame such a powerful voice within the Wu heirarchy. Divine is RZA's brother.

Yep. And it seems like that hustle rubbed off on Rae because out of all the 9 generals, other than RZA, Rae seems to be the only one with that mogul mentality.

I think Power definitely backed them financially when they came out. The same way Biggs backed rocafella.
