Exactly. People punk Knicks fans because they have no idea what actual fans look and act like. What are fans supposed to do after reaching the ECF after 25 years, politely clap? Fukk that. Pretty sure too that if that type of celebrations were in some smaller market people would be talking about it in a much more positive way. It's just generational hate for the Knicks (and for NY I guess).
realize you're only halfway home.

There's a difference between politely clapping and shutting down 7th ave after a win in the series and renaming streets for a team that hasn't done shyt.

the people who show up to watch the Knicks game on a screen outside or at Radio City = die hards with some casuals who wanna feel what y'all feel, especially since the crowd is fairly bougie at MSG.

the ones who flood in afterward = not Knicks fans. Those are the ones who tear up Union Square thinking Kai Cenat's gonna pull up and hand out PS5's. The ones who know Sidetalk is around so they can yell SUCK MY dikk to a microphone, the ones who don't even like the Knicks. A bunch of those kids have a "other team" and it's wherever LeBron is and the Warriors.

The Mets are a passionate fanbase. They don't attract this fukkery. The Yankees kinda attract this fukkery, especially recently, and their idea of this is to go to Billy's and yell fukk ALTUVE (I guess Soto now). Let's not act like if the Knicks didn't have these outbursts outside MSG that the fanbase would be somehow less passionate. We as a city are just lowering the bar for what would rationalize this because the 4 major sports have let us down since 2011. All some fans are doing is setting the bar so high with celebrating that the only thing you can do to top it is just start setting shyt on fire and I can remember when we'd look at fans who did that and wonder what was wrong with them.
Was there a vote for renaming streets that I missed? fukk that gotta do with the fans?

I’m sure there are casuals mixed in, but Knicks fans did similar shyt when they beat the Pacers in a January game back in 2020 and got ridiculed for it back then too. Instead of celebrating a fan base for realizing the team they loved is turning a corner, we got killed for it. This was always the natural progression.

Bro please get the fukk out of here with this puritan bullshyt. Motherfukkers can’t dictate how people express their happiness.

You’re acting like we made a thread titled “Knicks in the finals“. I am not telling anyone to chill, and no one should tell me to chill either. We are all watching the same games.

Honestly, this is the most annoying part of being a Knicks fan, and I could get deep and tie it to being a New Yorker and the image we have of being a city full of minorities that influences the communal city’s culture, but I will keep it about the Knicks, since the Knicks might be the only city wide team in spite of the nets who are literally the gentrification team.

Every fan base is quick to shyt on us, but god help us if we celebrate doing well. The Knicks lost one game in a 7 game series and people are already saying we are done in the playoffs and it’s the fans fault for creating bad juju.

The fans can celebrate all they want, it doesn’t affect the game. Like your argument would be like me calling out that fake gangster Boston fan who said he was going to game 4 and saying him being corny is why Tatum got hurt? It’s a narrative fiction used by people who just don’t like New Yorkers cause we don’t act like the bunch of idiots who make up the rest of the country.

No one went to the Boston fans and said “hey you arrogant a$$holes you guys lost cause the fans were arrogant going into this series”.

No because I specifically pointed that the ones who go over the top don't really fukk with y'all anyway.

Yeah, but we’re still getting lectured about it. Not just you, it’s everybody. Like it’s one game and people are like “see that’s what you get”.

I went to 34th street after the Boston win cause I was in the area, and 99.9% of the people there was walking around yelling let’s go Knicks. You had a few crazy incidents filmed for clout and yeah that is who we are as a fanbase, but fukk it. Motherfukkers we’re going to hate on us regardless, at least this is a sign of life.

It was LolKnicks and Knicks for Clicks now it’s Bing Bong, cause Bing Bong is the sound the train doors makes. Motherfukkers hating don’t even get the reference, which is good in my book. That is a very NY thing, having to be here to get it.

The Kai Cenat shyt is the Gen Z kids who I think are weird, but it’s them doing them, we don’t got to understand it. There is a really good argument Gen Z is a generation of Juggalos but that is off topic.

I’m gonna push back on that. We celebrated like we’ve seen the most success a lot of those younger fans have ever seen this team achieve. That “act like you’ve been there” shyt is corny. Non-American Soccer fans react like that over less. We passionate about our team. Just cause the rest of the country doesn’t love their teams like we love the Knicks is on them not us.
Nah, it's corny. Did you see any other fanbase reacting the way we do over limited success? Young fans just looking for a reason to crash out.

Yeah, I think it's a crock of shyt. Knicks fans cheered and showed up for bad teams and got called delusional. When they boo'ed bad teams, they were being bad fans and expecting too much. When the team's good, the fans are too enthusiastic. It's always a problem. Been that way for decades.

Ain't shyt Knicks fans can do without people bytching about it. So fukk it. Be a fan how YOU want to be a fan. Some heads are gonna be obnoxious, but every fanbase has those types. The Knicks have a huge fanbase, so whatever people want to focus on, they'll find plenty examples to be mad at. A lot of people are just looking for a reason to complain anyway. It is what it is.

Give me fans that won't leave the games until the final buzzer over the fans who leave early and try to get back in the building. I'll take the fans who explode with enthusiasm because they've been waiting 20 years to get this far. If you want cordial behavior, watch golf.

I think that there can be excitement, of course, but some Knicks fans do take it a bit too far.

The crowd outside of MSG after Game 6 of the semifinals did take things a bit too far. However, they don't represent most or all Knicks fans.
