I would be IN if i knew what intersectionality meant

TLDR; it's a social justice theory that suggests in certain situations more than one factor comes into play for someone's oppression experience. They should as a result address the intirety of their social identities and its interactions with an oppressive force or forces to determine how to combat against the oppression of that group/individual.

I think a lot of people find it controversial because it accepts that at times two otherwise opposing factions may have to work together for their common goal.

First you need to find me a black, Hispanic, Asian, lbgt, muslim immigrant that is experiencing oppression in all of those areas.

Like almost all ethno-nationalists they'll purport to not be racists, but "realists" who are aware of how infernal these "other" cultures and ethnicities are and conversely how naive liberals are to their wickedness. These guys claim to desire security and prosperity for their own race and call those within their tribe "c00ns" and "cucks" for not realizing the virtues, but like the "diversity is white genocide" and David Dukes of the world they dont really love their own people, instead they are pathologically anti-social and use racial antagonism to mentally balance themselves in a complex world.

They feel provoked by multiculturalism and "intersectionality", and consider others an existential threat just for existing.

Once again, Intersectionality is not the belief that all oppression is equal and as a result any oppressed person should fight for all oppressIon. This seems to be the position you are arguing and that is not what Intersectionality is.

There is no requirement, based on principles of Intersectionality for me as a straight black man to get involved in the plight of other and unrelated forms of oppression.

That aside, not based on Intersectionality, there is still value in fighting oppression from the same structure or institution that oppresses you even if it's unrelated to your personal cause.

Take intersectionalist feminism for example. Countless examples of white women leaving black feminists to dry and only helping them when it's to attack black men.

Unless there is another form of intersectionality I am unaware of.
