fukk this, how are they gonna remake it? unless they get some unknown martial arts champ as the lead then it's gonna suck (it will anyway) but if there's no Silat then it's just gonna be a gun movie

dat judge dredd remake was popping tho!

:ooh:

:birdman:

dope movie, i have heard about it being a Raid "remake" or "rip off" but they were written at the same time i think. they had the advantage of adding the Judge Dredd element to the basic Raid storyline but an official remake i don't think they can pull it off because of the Silat in the OG, how will they Americanize that?

There was already a remake
It was called Judge Dredd
People always make this mistake but surprisingly The Dredd script was written before The Raid even went into production. Someone leaked the Dredd script years ago and The Raid was "surprisingly" made and shot before Dredd got its date.

Definitely agreed. Besides the Departed (and we will see if it ages well over time), I can't think of any other decent American remake

I cant either....

Departed worked in part because of the great acting.

Frank Grillo Officially Cast In The Raid: Redemption Remake

WVGquV9.jpg

While a short wish-list was released a little while ago concerning who would be kicking ass in Patrick Hughes’ remake of The Raid: Redemption, we now have confirmation that one of those names has officially been signed. While talking to Frank Grillo today about his new movie The Purge: Anarchy, the actor nonchalantly dropped the fact that he’s going to appear in the Hughes’ upcoming film.

In other news, we recently found out that filming was delayed from this September until the first quarter of 2015. When I asked Grillo about this, he confirmed that shooting will in fact start in January, so it looks like they want to get the ball rolling as soon as possible on this one. Patrick Hughes has quite the task ahead of him, but from what I could tell, Grillo seemed extremely excited about the director’s enthusiastic admiration for Gareth Evans’ original material.

I thought that this remake had been cancelled but I guess not.
I like Frank Grillo and it is cool to see him getting some shine but I can't see them being able to capture the energy of the fight scenes in the original.
They already did its called Dredd.
