This is really scary... Bear with me...

I didn't realize how this can impact the future of a nation. When I was in college in the early '90s, I ended up with a foreign student as a lab partner. He was Palestinian. Towards the end of the semester when we were more friendly, I jokingly asked him "why are there so many terrorists in Palestine?". His answer forever changed my way of thinking...

He told me that most of his friends didn't make it out of Palestine. He said they had no hope for the future. You couldn't find a job, couldn't start a business, couldn't have a family, couldn't safely raise kids. He said they're hope had been taken away. He pointed out that without any hope of a future, all you want to do is take down the ones that are putting you in that position. Once you have no hope, life doesn't matter and you have no worries about dying, since life or death are the same.

So when I hear about hope being taken away, it terrifies me after the future of our country. I don't think it is right that a guy who is working 10 or 12 hours a day can't put food on the table, have a house to live in, and think about a retirement at 60 or 65 or even 70.

This is what they're doing to the people. The ultra will be are removing any hope of a future for our kids and their kids.

Something's got to change.

@MorePerfectUS
The top 10% now hold 67.4% of all the wealth in the US.

The bottom 50% hold 2.5%.

We make media specifically to build power for the working class. Connect with us on here, and across platforms.

More Perfect Union | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok | Linktree.

@TedWilcox7
and yet, many in that bottom 50% will vote Republican...the very definition of voting against your self-interest

while the top 10% vote Republican for their own self-interest - tax cuts specifically for them, pro-corporations, anti-regulatory

@Adbusters
Sounds like it's time for a revolution.

I wonder how many people the top % employs are on government benefits. How much we pay on that + their government subsidies is probably way more than what poor people cost us in tax dollars. Sick of billionaire welfare.

7/37
@Nahanchi7068
And the politicians are all in the top 10%

8/37
@MoneyRigged
when money can be printed out of no where, the closer you are to its creation, the more you benefit from it. Theres a different way to do this

@marioamontero
Yes but FOX News and Social Media (all owned by billionaires) manipulates them to think it’s immigrants and minorities fault

10/37
@CrazyFenaker
Top 10% aren't really the problem - it's the top fraction of the top 1%.

@ProgressiveEmma
This is socialism for the rich, but nothing for the poor.

@g_e_r_m_a_n_o
It’s gotten triple worse during the Trump lawless regime. Job growth is down, inflation is up, GDP is down, consumer confidence is down, financial instability is up, and he’s only just begun. This Congress is not stepping up to the plate.

13/37
@RickRollsRoyce
if you add them up it's 69.9%

14/37
@MatthewDil97234
Safe to say it never in fact trickled down.

Inequality is now worth than during gilded age. We should name it. The Tylenol age? The grift age? The gilded rage?

I hope the government fixes this by giving another 10 gazillion dollars to Israel ❤️🇮🇱🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Someone link the infographic that shows Regan's policies brought about this decline for the everyday worker in the US. Is the wealth trickling down yet?

18/37
@SJPascal
the wealth should trickle down any day now!

@BoldestGesture
Tax all wealth above 20 million and give it directly to the rest of us as compensation for generations of stolen wages.

This isn't a left/right or blue/red thing. Workers can't afford to be split along any line other than class. It's a big club and you ain't in it.

@makingeuros
wow trickle down economics really works

25/37
@PendantIndy
France has a logical idea to counteract the advantages that billionaires buy themselves:
“with the effective tax rate for … billionaires lower than those for most other taxpayers, action must be taken to ensure the wealthiest are paying their fair share.” New rock-star economist Gabriel Zucman’s wealth tax transfixes France

Yes and… the bottom 50% pay 2.3% of all federal income tax; and the top 10% pay 72% of all federal income tax.

@LaborsDJ
Imelda Marcos could not fathom enough shoes to justify this kind of inequality.

@KingSeason35437
I remember y'all saying if we tax the rich they will raise prices. Well we didn't tax the rich and guess what they still raise prices.

Are you familiar with the end of the Romanovs?

33/37
@wrs_willoughby
The top 10% of Americans by wealth own 87% to 90% of all U.S. stocks, according to recent data from the Federal Reserve.
The wealthiest 1% of households hold around 50% of all stocks.

It’s going to trickle down any day now…

This is where the policy choices of both political parties, who have no problems coming together to bail out banks, or car companies, or their friends, or their friend’s businesses, or their friend’s countries, or just to blatantly enrich themselves, have brought us.

CEO pay is up 1,094% since 1978, while worker pay is up just 26%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

None of this is really that new big dawg.

The system is serving the people who designed it. The only way to fight back is to unionize workplaces and engage in mutual aid.

When youre behind on your rent. Who bails you out? Not washington. Your friends and family or a local rent bank.

If you're looking for a job, who will hook you up? Not washington. A non profit agency or people who put on workshops at the library to help you polish your interview techniques.

Who stands up for you if you lose your job unfairly? Not washington, not the company that hired you, the union you paid dues to.

Who helps prevent your landlord from illegally raising rent? Not the government, tenant unions.

Who helped our ancestors escape to the north or leave america for Canada? Not the government.

Theres even a narrative spreading that shows with historical evidence how we fought for our freedom. They purposefully downplay this to exaggerate the level of power and control that white people had over our ancestors. In reality people were willing to, and did kill if they had to in order to be free.

Its always been down to the people to protect themselves and their communities. You will drive yourself insane consuming all this news telling you what they're getting away with, how, and with no plan of action aside from "vote for someone and hope that the election isn't rigged and they deliver on their promises".
