He's being honest, and that's the type of "equal time" comedy that the Tonight Show has always done.
The person in the white house, and the party that controls congress are naturally going to be the butt of the jokes for that day. So, the Trump critiques and jokes will continue rolling everyday from his team of writers.
Regardless of what he told the interviewer.
Trump dominates the headlines, so hes the perfect topic for joke writing, day after day after day.
Nobody takes life or political cues from comedians, so I dont get the backlash.
