I don't think most people realize how oppressive China really is. They want to treat them as communist-in-name-only when they ain't any less frightening than the Soviet gulag era. They just have fewer global geopolitical aspirations so their domestic agenda goes unnoticed.
nobody mentions how these Uighurs were slaughtering people in the street and China had to force Facebook out because they wouldn't give up Intel on the terrorist cells.
State repression isn't exclusive to communists so I don't know where you're going with this

I'm pointing out that China is an authoritarian, totalitarian government that desires to maintain total central control over its populace. That is all. Fixed it for you so you can get a feel for the actual situation. Blaming an entire ethnic group for the sporadic violence of a few is ridiculous.
There was violence in Xinjiang, as there is in many spots with ethnic strife and a brutal repressive government that favors the dominant party in that strife, but China's claims of rampant Uighur terrorism turned out to be bullshyt. I mean you got FACEBOOK defending privacy rights now and you don't realize something's wrong with China's description of the situation? When even Pompeo and the Trump Administration says that someone is exaggerating the Muslim threat you know something is off.

China annexed their land and are replacing their population with Han Chinese. They used to be 60% of that land but now 47%.
