she might have gotten them back because she was arrested May this year for a DUI with a kid in the car, the child was injured

That was tough to watch, i am not against discipline but there is a right way to do it and a wrong way, this was the wrong approach. You could have taken all his video games away and favorite snacks or foods and still have the same point come across, using a belt in what appears to be a very harsh manner in my view is over the top for this
