I don't understand why people hate this dude so much. Well, that's not actually true. I do understand why the sports machine, college and pro, hate him. But it perplexes me why so many black people have such an issue with him.
He's smart enough to create a brand that will be owned and controlled by his family. He understands that the NCAA uses kids like prostitutes to bring in money for their schools all while giving them nothing but a "free college education." If they even get that. And then when they go pro, they get used to sell tickets, sneakers and all types of other products for pennies on the dollar.
Lavar Ball is getting ahead of it by creating a brand and building the brand while the kid is in college, so he'll have major leverage when he turns pro. He's not sitting back and letting his kid just get taken on a ride like most of these kids get taken on when the agents and Nike start whispering sweet nothings in their ear.
I think a lot of blacks don't like anything white people don't like, so I understand that slave portion of it. And with all the single moms that get swindled during the college recruitment, agent nut hugging and endorsement deal rapings, you would think more people would applaud the efforts of Ball to ensure his kids have something to show after their careers are over.
From a business perspective, dude is playing the Kardashian game and looking to make sure his kids get some ownership out of everything he does. I can't hate on that at all.
