In the event that it is the same or grows higher in time, chances are they would make the same decision as me to use the teleportation device in perpetuity until one of them finally succeeded and didn't want to kill himself

If the consciousness isnt directly carried over then it wouldnt be an exact copy. There would be variance anyway and the variance would be nominal compared to my own current tendencies that arent 100% predictive. I doubt my loved ones would notice much of a difference which would be the only point of using this machine anyway

The main part about being me is the continuity of existence that I feel.

As many have pointed out this isn't a new or novel concept. Many tv shows and movies have brought this up. It basically comes down to challenging the concept of a soul and if this was a real thing, the religious machine would be in overdrive beating the drum against this so-called teleportation.

If there is a such thing as a soul then your memories would be naturally, inherently and inextricably linked. Your memories are a record of all your experiences and all your experiences, what has ever happened to you and all the choices you've made has to be some definition of your soul. So cloning memories would also be somehow cloning your soul....or the soul doesn't exist.

Interesting concept, but if you die then your experience ends. A carbon copy of you is only you to the outside world. If the clone has knowledge of this decision, then essentially “you” would know that you killed yourself in order to travel somewhere and thus the new you would be living a new separate existence.
