The only rappers ducking verzus are Jay, nas and it looks like rakim ducked Kane.

They just t have a way of doing bullchit. Like the wutang versus wutang stuff. And putting Trina up there over a ton of more worthy females.

I think a ugk-mjg battle could be snuck in after they do bigger battles from that era of t he South. A variation of no limit/cash money is what the people want. They don't even have to clash the crews. They could just do something like juvenile/mystikal to get the ball rolling.

Those groups are nearly non-existent outside of their audience. If you can't see that, then I don't know what else to tell you homie.

At least with that e40/too short battle that somebody mentioned; too short is sort of iconic, even if you think he's garbage. And e-40 at least attached himself to alot of recent stars via collabs. And I think they trust the bay to show up more than they trust the south.

And none of those songs were popping, not even on a huge album like Harlem world. They couldn't even blow when they were signed and pushed by diddy.

Verzus is looking to get views from the general public.

People liked "The Player Way". It wasn't a matter of blowing up. This was a group that consistently went Gold and even had successful solo albums. They were a big enough deal on their own merits to where someone like Diddy was interested in not only aligning himself with them, but ultimately signing them.

And no, a lot of these battles aren't about the general public. Some of these battles catered to niche audiences. Any fan of Southern Hip Hop would want to see UGK vs Eightball & MJG.

anyway, I think VZ is played ATM. It made a lot of sense during lockdown - I think they should pause until late fall when people are back in the house a bit more

Since when was this made for the lockdown? Black folks were never on lockdown anyway.

They've had some of their best matchups recently and in front of live crowds. That dipset/dblock at the garden is gonna be monumental.

This isn't played out. They just bullchit half the time with some of these matchups. But maybe that's a strategy to keep people from having ridiculous expectations.

That was then. This is now. People know who UGK are and they know Eightball & MJG in 2021. Would a Verzuz of those two attract monster numbers? No, but it would be a niche audience comprised of mostly fans of Southern Hip Hop.

and they still dont have hits.

they have 1 hit to their name and its because of outkast w/ the assist of 3-6 mafia.

im sure the verzus went with 8ball & mjg. theres a market for everything. but im just saying i could see why swizz & timbo would be hesitant. hell, they really didnt even wanna do bone thugs/3-6 mafia. thats the battle that did it. especially seeing how 8ball & mjg came out there performing like their lives depended on it.
