The problem with that is that basketball doesn't operate like MLB or Soccer.
There's a cap.

If the Yankees want to pay Alex and Jeter and Sabathia all the money in the world, they can do it (and they did). There's nothing stopping them from spending 200 million dollars or whatever it was.

But the Lakers don't operate in the same environment. There's a limited number of dollars to go around each year in the NBA. So if a player is representing a massive percentage of your payroll...he is responsible for the overall quality of the product on the court......at least to a degree. The other way to look at it would be to say that the Lakers ownership was stupid to give 1 player all that money and hog up the financial resources that would allow them to put a more well-rounded team on the court.

But how sympathetic to ownership would you fans be if the Lakers front office said "We're not going to pay you that much money because it won't give us the flexibility to put talent around you" ??

Yet we now sit here listening to Stephen A. Smith and others complain that the reason Kobe is struggling...is because he doesn't have the players around him to win.

...round and round we go, Jack

It took Kobe 20 seasons plus multiple major injuries to finally look like shyt. LeBron will look like this about two years from now, and it won't be because of injuries, it will be due to his lack fundamental skills. He ain't fukking with The Black Mamba. Get this shytty thread out of here.

Weak ass thread. Of course the wolves all come at Kobe at the end.

They came at Jesus it's only right :blessed:

:wow: It all makes sense now.

Multiple season ending injuries
Close thread
Basically this. Hasn't had a chance to slowly change his game as he's aged because he's been out the game too long or was rehabbing from injuries while he was playing.

He is still in denial because of this and hasn't changed his game. He always said he would retire before it got to this point....

hes going to retire when this contract is up...and if leaves before he fulfills that obligation to the team then he would be selfish no ? :mjpls:

Maybe if you was Laker fan you'd feel differently about it but even then i still would respect his business acumen...Make these billionaires and teams pay out the ass while you can :manny:
