The problem with that is that basketball doesn't operate like MLB or Soccer. His life dont end when he retires tho....hes taxing Mitch and JIm for the titles and decade of relevance he helped bring...Ill shyt on alot of things Kobe did but the most noble and endearing thing he ever did was NEVER take a paycut from his billionaire ovberlords...
Struggled?He avgd 27 at age 34
Lb been struggling to avg 27 since age 29
Weak ass thread. Of course the wolves all come at Kobe at the end.
They came at Jesus it's only right![]()

There's a cap.
If the Yankees want to pay Alex and Jeter and Sabathia all the money in the world, they can do it (and they did). There's nothing stopping them from spending 200 million dollars or whatever it was.
But the Lakers don't operate in the same environment. There's a limited number of dollars to go around each year in the NBA. So if a player is representing a massive percentage of your payroll...he is responsible for the overall quality of the product on the court......at least to a degree. The other way to look at it would be to say that the Lakers ownership was stupid to give 1 player all that money and hog up the financial resources that would allow them to put a more well-rounded team on the court.
But how sympathetic to ownership would you fans be if the Lakers front office said "We're not going to pay you that much money because it won't give us the flexibility to put talent around you" ??
Yet we now sit here listening to Stephen A. Smith and others complain that the reason Kobe is struggling...is because he doesn't have the players around him to win.
...round and round we go, Jack

Basically this. Hasn't had a chance to slowly change his game as he's aged because he's been out the game too long or was rehabbing from injuries while he was playing.Multiple season ending injuries

Fair enough. He dont care about the cap or even winning,he cares about getting paid and thats all he should worry about, its Mitchs job to worry about the team and cap and contending...Hes won his rings and accolades, get paid as much as you can and leave when you ready...One thing about Kobe i appreciate.
He aint fukkn around with all that extra shyt..hes done it all,hes getting HIS and then leaving...

He is still in denial because of this and hasn't changed his game. He always said he would retire before it got to this point....
Fair enough.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Please rephrase this question.hes going to retire when this contract is up...and if leaves before he fulfills that obligation to the team then he would be selfish no ?![]()
