I like brehs game. Problem is that the Hawks don't see SF as a "need" position and you have to keep in mind that the Hawks just signed WOATmore to a huge deal, spent a lotto pick on Taurean Prince, traded for Mike Dunleavy and have a solid vet with Thabo. The group is collectively unimpressive but that doesn't mean you add a 5th SF to a 14 man roster

start hardaway jr
sit bazemore

dennis
hardaway jr
chandler
milsap
howard

Chandler is a rental breh. They wanted a 1st at least. I don't think it's worth it considering that lineup u posted is not beating the warriors

:russ:no line up is beating the warriors

:yeshrug: expect maybe the cavs - if they all play there A game

but that line up could most def go to the eastern conference finals

It's time to seriously decide what direction we want this organization to go in. Pay Paul a stupid Joe Johnson deal or just blow it up. They are not going to blow it up so expect Sap back.

According to reports, the Hawks actually did make attempts at getting Paul George and Jimmy Butler (either/or not both). I'll give them credit for actually trying and not just settling. That's what you want your team to do, even if they don't complete the deal.

I mean i appreciate the effort but they gotta finish it. I wonder what potentially held the deals up tho...you don't go after one of those guys without losing a major contributor (i.e. THJR) or a starter (ie WOAT). I wonder who they dangled as trade bait :lupe:

Our package wasn't as good as denver or bostons. All we had to offer contract wise was woat. Either way I think this signals they want to make major moves this summer.

Boston wasn't offering as much as teams wanted and no one offered what Denver offered but no one wants to play for Denver so it's a moot point

That's one way to read it. I'd like to believe that this is a sign of things to come but the problem is that the Hawks are rarely a player in FA. If we're going to get a superstar or star player we've got to draft him or trade for him. The Hawks haven't drafted and developed a superstar since Nique so to get a Jimmy Butler or Paul George you gotta throw everything you got and hope it's enough. And if I'm an opposing team WOAT or THJR and picks ain't good enough :manny:

I agree. I think it's going to be thru trades. I think they weren't willing to blow it up mid season and be garbage the rest of the way. To look competitive when it is time to recruit or get players here.

I think Ressler (the new owner) wants to win. The new training facility they're building in Brookhaven with Emory, the renovations to Philips that begin this summer...I think they want to be considered a championship team so I don't ever see them blowing it up b/c to your point they want to look competitive. I'm just not sure I see the vision from a basketball organization standpoint that makes me say :ohhh: "so thats what the Hawks are building towards" I felt I saw the vision in 2014-2015, saw inconsistency last year and a team that had peaked and last summer's offseason confirmed they didn't really know what the fukk they wanted to do. Lose Al for nothing, sign Wop, give WOAT a contract he hadnt earned, didn't sign THJR to a qualifying offer which is now gonna make him more expensive this summer, had Sap in trade talks for no reason, etc. Last summer was just a bad look for the franchise and that's why I'm so :gucci: when i see our moves b/c I'm not sure what the end game is besides the cliche of "win a title".

And I feel like we gonna lose Sap on principle like we lost Al...like "we not gonna max you out even tho you're our best player" type shyt and then try to scramble and throw money to whoever we can get

Damn breh, I feel the pain. It's tough being a fan of a team that ain't gsw or the cavs.:wow:

I think the idea is to sell this team as a contender missing a piece to other players. We also want to seem like we take care of our own, rewarding guys like bazemore and millsap. Although Baze backfired.

We can bottom out but idk if I want to fall into that abyss. Some teams never make it back out. At the same time There are few free agents that are worth the max so you don't want to get in a bidding war for nikkas like Evan turner or allen Crabbe.

Honestly our best attribute as an organization is player development. So I think we should do what Qohelet has been begging for and that's drafting high potential guys instead of seniors. With a d league team now, it makes the most sense.

In the meantime retain whatever assets you have like millsap because the alternative is worse. Also he will always be a commodity. The hardaway thing is hindsight because I think it's fair to say not everybody was sold on him.

Also, I respect the franchises decision to not make horford the 2nd highest player in the league. :yeshrug:

For the record I didn't wanna max out Al last summer or max out Paul this summer but the Hawks had to have known that Al was gonna command that and that Paul might this summer. They got caught flat footed because they didn't have a backup plan and had to scramble to save face last summer. Unfortunately I think they are gonna face the same scenario this off season.
