What do they exactly have to move forward to a trial?
That’s what I’m wondering, unless there’s information missing or they’re taking those threats serious enough to chance it during trial.

The threats are all have unless there’s more witnesses as if I remember correctly, I don’t even think they found the guns that were supposedly used in the crime.

This is my city, and I don't know anything about this dude pre arrest, and don't follow basketball or colleges, but here's a rundown:

The area where this happened is extremely rural and isolated, this would be Jamul.

The area where they are prosecuting him is El Cajon, kind of a B venue, as opposed to Superior Court in downtown San Diego, regardless the prosecutors are often extremely good, and gunning to get moved up, and are extremely experienced with gang cases, as El Cajon has many of them.

The Sherriff's Department are not A1 investigators. But, that is their jurisdiction as it happened in the unincorporated county.

The evidence against him is extremely solid. They have bullets in the car, witnesses, geo location/phone data that puts the cars and people in the scene of the crime at the right time. They have witnesses who are cooperating. probably not that smart, but whatever. This isn't rape, where it's he said she said, you have multiple witnesses and bullet holes, plus shell casings. What they probably have too is texts sent in real time confirming it. They don't need to give up everything at the prelim, just the basics.

What they don't have and probably needed was JJ Taylor's cooperation. Because either he or Mikey pulled the trigger. I don't know these guys, but I know whats up, they are little kids with wild egos and money up, rent (*buy) a home way out there to try and duck all the problems someone like Williams could get into in either downtown or whatever. They are also probably wannabe gangsters. Don't understand the consequences of their actions, that they could have easily killed or shot someone in the car. It's just luck they didn't.

As for taking it to trial, or plea deal.....he's going with a bad attorney for one. It will depend on variables that are unknowable to me, but seeing the evidence, just at the prelim, they can win at trial. The guys wearing a bow tie. he needs someone better in there. I would guess any plea deal is going to come with custody and felony conviction, and that derails his career, which I think is over anyway it lands. He misses just a year or 3, and he's done, right? No chance for the pros, and no chance for college.

Do they have 1st time offender rules out there or does it matter due to the nature and number of felonies he committed?

He should plea and get 1-3 suspended, but I don't know the area so we'll see what happens.

Ehhhh based on the testimony so far, they don’t really have any evidence tying him to the crime. Threats are necessarily enough to say that he did it.

With that being said, his NBA dreams are on hold for the time being.
I think unless he is absolutely exonerated then the NBA won’t even take the chance. The last thing they want is another incident.

Absolutely, as a first time offender, he's not going to prison forever. This is more about navigating his college/NBA career. But, Tory Lanez was facing similar charges. and the reporting has been pretty lacking regarding the actual charges, they just say 6 charges, which I think are all felonies.

something like:

Assault with a deadly weapon, 5 counts, maybe per each shot fired
Shooting into an Occupied vehicle

Shooting into an occupied vehicle is really serious. Shooting into an occupied dwelling is same. So, pleading to any of those is probably a nonstater for him. A really really good attorney could maybe get a plea to reckless endangerment, and criminal discharge of a weapon, BUT they have the bullet holes and witnesses, and threats. A really good attorney would have had this pleaded by now too.

Can tell you right now these kids were geeky little high school students. They rolled up in a Tesla, one of the girls was fukking with his roomate, sexually/romantically.

He can't say I was afraid for my life. They had guns. or they are criminals. He can't say I shot in the air or didn't mean to hit them. He fukking blasted at the car. They are cooperating witnesses. Don't think the prosecutor is willing to let this go. He was saying he wants to add more charges. Witness intimidation.

To plea, he would need them to reduce it down to a misdemeanor, but would that still be something he could play college ball with?

You trying to take that chance at trial?

Take a plea and hopefully get a light sentence because they're going to be heavy handed at sentencing if you're found guilty.

If he didn't fire the shots he better say who did.

They found guns and drugs in the house as well, so someone is going to have to take the fall for that.
