You sign to a label, they have to sign off on your release dates, marketing, etc. even if your one of THEM ones like Taylor Swift, Kendrick, Bad Bunny, Beyonce, etc who can pretty much do what they want they still have to give the label some sort of heads up.

even I could see this a mile away. Labels have shelved artists and put them in record deal purgatory for much less, let alone filing a federal lawsuit against them
