Uphill runs are for battles, you race one car behind another over two stages. First stage, Car A leads and B follows. Second stage, B leads and A follows. There's no overtaking because the roads are too small, so the winner is determined by who couldn't keep up with the lead car when they were the follow car. So if A pulled clear of B, and then stayed right on B's tailgate the whole way up, A is the winner
