I don’t follow Valenti, but IIRC hasn’t he always been extremely critical of Mel and how poorly he runs the show at MSU?

Truth be told, Mel is majorly in over his head.

He might’ve skated by as a mediocre at best coach somewhere else but when he was hired he wasn’t the first choice, and I think he lucked into the job by being boys with the MSU AD.

2020 we looked like shyt but he got a COVID pass.

2021 we looked good , but had glaring holes and insane errors that were covered up by having the Walter Camp winner carrying the ball and hitting home runs any chance he broke free.

In 2021 we also benefited by having 2 nfl receivers and a QB with zero film on him.

The nfl receivers were a deep threat that opened up the field for K9 to break free.

We still had the worst secondary in the entire NCAA in 2021 but somehow won 11 games. I think OSU was up on us 49-0 in the first Q bc we couldn’t cover shyt.

2022 was a reversion to the mean bc Mel didn’t have K9.

2023 we’ve looked disjointed in both games so far and have a top 2 toughest schedule in the NCAA. 6 wins was the ceiling. 3-4 wins the basement.
