That’s bc Michigan alumni and fans around the country wanted urban gone as soon as possible, contrast that with them wanting Mel Tucker to stay. Despite his record vs MI, Mel wasn’t going to win this year, nor for the foreseeable future. Last year showed he’s incapable.

Urban won 3 titles, and is the second-best coach out of the past ~30 years. Mel Tucker went 19-14 at MSU, and his 11 win season came on the back of Kenneth Walker.
