Funny this thread's made recently, I've been in the middle of listening to Neptunes' whole discography and making a giant playlist

One thing I've found is just how many songs P & Chad made that don't have that "Neptunes" sound. Bits & pieces but it's not all there like the top hits. The range is incredible, everything from reggae, edm, hip hop, pop and even though it's given different once you've heard it you'll know it

These songs sound like how generations look back 10-15 years and revive fashion trends to be different, they can emulate the look but there's things always missing. These songs sound like the same guy remixing the same top 3-5 Neptunes beats with extra shyt to make it "2025". But it all ends up sounding soulless. Neptunes also have a signature hook pattern, listening back to everything they didn't really miss with it. None of these people bothered to copy that while copying everything else

Unpopular opinion, but Neptunes, as dope as they are, don't have a lot of replay value.
Going back and listening to it all some beats even though sound like they were made yesterday and I like them, quite a few are cringe

It's because if you grew up when the songs were hot the radio stations talked over the instrumentals to give the weather and shyt, or they were in commercials. To me the beats had so much replay value they were ran into the ground

Just like NLU in Fall 2025. That song is beyond ran into the ground, it's on the other side of the earth

Reppin
God's Plan
None of these are bad really. I wonder the reaction if tyler were rapping over them instead? These days it may do pharrell well to start collabing with other producers.
