You know I was thinking last night about this and the incident with AIPAC and strategically speaking if Dems had balls can't they flip the script on this?
After Ilhan's lobby AIPAC criticism a lot of pro-Israel pols went overboard and proved her point with their rhetoric. It's like she kinda won that battle or at least fought even since a lot of pols thought it not a good idea to go the AIPAC Conference afterward.
Now with this after the criticism of her 9/11 remarks can Dems and sponsors of the 9/11 first responders fund and the other 9/11 legislation shame Republicans after their criticism of her by getting publicity for these issues?! It could work if Dem leadership backed her more. What do you think?

:ohhh: I really like that idea fam. The First Responders' fund was a big Jon Stewart issue, if someone of his stature jumped into the frey then this approach would spread like wildfire.

You have to remember breh, Dems are cowards and have no idea how to strategize.

The establishment class of the Dem party didn't waste any time to throw her under the bus and its obvious that at this point they're leaving her out to dry. If she is primaried, all the better in their eyes.

It's not a lack of strategy. Its strategic neglect in providing a defense.

Its ironic that many folks who think "progressives" should back Dems no matter what tend to back establishment style politics and demand folks not implement purity tests and now for the most benign initial comment she is now persona non-grata because she did not conform to a perfect Israel cock sucking stance.

Remember this incident the next time these same people whine about "purity politics".

Like I said before, I'm still leaning towards not even voting in 2020 depending on the nominee. I'll vote for Bernie since he was supportive of her and I'll consider voting for anyone else who has come/will come out and defend her. But this is becoming a single issue voting metric for me. shyt really pissed me off. My mom was calling me the other day to discuss politics and asking me who I got and I was like :yeshrug: because this shyt is still fresh in my mind. I've voted in four presidential elections and midterms in between, including a special election or two. Never felt this way before.

The problem is she has like 5 allies in all of Congress and really only her two fellow first time reps will even voluntarily speak up for her. There is actually an opportunity to hold Republicans feet to the fire on legislation but those with the power to act (Pelosi, Hoyer, Schumer etc.) would rather see her crash and burn. The Dems are seriously pitiful and are actually more infuriating than Republicans because they pretend to be on your side.

Exactly. The crazy thing is that Omar and AOC (among a handful of others) are just calling a spade a spade and then when they get attacked, they call BS instead of ducking for cover...and it's SUCCESSFUL. We've (progressives for sure, but I feel like plenty to our right would relate) been wanting to see the Democratic fight back and not just give in to every piece of Right Wing drama that gets thrown their way. We finally get that and it looks to be working, exposing blatant hypocrisy and lack of character whenever the Republicans get their bluff called. But we're stuck with this leadership that is in permanent defense mode. It's like they have the ball on third and short, but would rather punt and hope for a turnover close to the endzone than risk making a mistake.

Schumer especially bothers me. To me, he's looked completely ineffective or worse (like the judge appointments give away he did prior to the midterms). But there's some hope, I might have to volunteer for whoever they find to primary him.

I cant remember where I read it, but the Schumer/Pelosi generation were coming up when George McGovern got bodied by Nixon and then Carter lost to Reagan and sat through that. They finally got a win with Clinton's 3rd way bullshyt and are attached to that thinking because it won with him and Obama. The problem is they ceded everything to the right and moved right with them.
