It taught me mainly that most people are sheep/followers.

A person put on TV with a cool image and a good command of language can have the masses jumping off bridges as long as the beat is hot.

Some of you would try smoking crack if enough references were made in rap music about how "cool" it is.

My 2 favourite tracks whenever I’m in a dark place:

“Life’s a bytch”
“White manz world”.

And these 2 bars from Jada:

“It's guaranteed you gon' die, you might get missed/For maybe 2 or 3 hours till they light they spliffs”

^^Realist shyt ever & a good reminder that no one cares.
…………..

So, in essence, I’ll say hip hop is therapeutic for me hence I only listen to certain artists.

Y'all really lost if you seeking life guidance from these rappers.
Oh he sold drugs and been to jail before? nikka probably never left his front porch.
90% of these rap nikkas are like pastors in church. They get paid to sell false hopes and dreams to the youth on some "I made it out the hood and you can too" shyt, but while these kids listening to their words and imitating their lyrics (which result in getting locked up or killed), these nikkas collect their checks and go home in a mansion.

Everything.

I started rapping at 8.

Found Run DMC on my own on the radio.

Started running the streets because of being down with a massive rap crew.. which I sought out after battling a stranger in the projects - dude was on the crew.

Throughout college I was a minor celeb in a small college town. Had so many adventures and experiences. All cause I was a popular local rapper.

Even now. At the tender age of 48 rap drove me to learn to sing over the past several years. Before that learned to dance (like, dance for real not just two step).

My real jobs over life have been talking shyt over the phone. Never got rich, but never "worked" a day in my life after about age 22. Just sat on a chair and worked half a day plenty of days. Hung over half the time. Always just spitting bars.

"The World Is Yours":ahh:Brehs have the natural creativity do anything.

"To see things in a seed, that is genius" This genius can also be used against you, Hip Hop can be seen as a kind of microcosm of Black American life, the gift and the curse (don't really like to use this word but you know what I mean).
