Yeah I always kind of had a lukewarm feeling towards that one. I like the track but it's just recycling Affirmative Action while replacing some verses by NTM's. They didn't even work on the track together, just met for the video. And the story is that NTM flew out to NY for that video and Nas basically was kind of not really respecting them, I think they didn't even shoot the vid and in the end it's Nas who came to France and apparently all kinds of bs happened. People were quite critical of it back then. The other tracks are more authentic collabs, this one was the labels' trying to ride a wave.

Props, didn't know the history of this. I accidentally downloaded it on napster and found out there was a video for it.

Wu Tang left the Rage Against The Machine tour to fly themselves to Summer Jam (at their own expense to play a free show) then they ended up getting banned from Hot 97 bc one of them dissed the station on stage

Ghostface sued RZA for 160k and won
U-God sued RZA for 2.5m

Rapper clothing lines. Not the big ones like Rocawear and Sean John. But the random ones like Snoop Dogg Clothing, Shady Limited, OutKast, & Makaveli. No hate though because I wore them myself :yeshrug:
Busta had BUSHI
T.I. had AKOO
Bow Wow had Shago or something

Plus all the rapper failed liquors - Qream by Pharrell, Luda "Conjure" cognac, etc

Interetsing. I actually like NTM from way back in the day and remember this song. When you say all kinds of bs happened, what happened exactly? Nas had a beef out there?

From what I remember basically Nas was acting like a diva and not really caring for NTM when they went to NY for the vid. So somehow the vid wasn't made and Nas had to come to France, NTM had the set out in their banlieues with random local hood brehs that kind of physically confronted Nas. Don't know how much of the details are urban legends or reality, at the end of the day the vid was made and everyone went back home. I do remember that a lot of people in France weren't really feeling the track back then. This link (in french) goes a little into the story, it quotes NTM's biography that I've never read.

That's one thing I respect about the French brehs, they don't care who you are, you're not about to "lil bro" them and get away with it. They set a good example of self respect and standing up for themselves, even more than us over here.
