Nas pretty much lied and pretended that he was being abused by defjam... but really it was him trying to sleaze his way out of his deal and have TLT2 be counted towards his album deal which was for 4 studio albums.

while we're on Nas...

The "Nas album done" album still hasn't been heard... it got scrapped for Nasir... don't see how it could be worse.
The whole situation with dating Nicki around the whole Shether saga... was just eerily to coincidental.

Had Nas already started working on Life is Good when he wrote that email? If you're correct, then The Lost Tapes II would have been his fourth project under them, but I guess they didn't want to count it. Stuff like that is probably why Nas ended up becoming independent.

Also, the Nas Album Done album wasn't scrapped because of Nasir. He just moved on from it and didn't want to release it anymore because he loses interest in songs quickly. I still think some of the songs from that album ended up on Lost Tapes II.

Bone Thugs Mr. Bill Collector featuring Eazy - there’s a muffled version out there with Eazy’s verse but no one knows if it’s real.

Jay-Z getting hit over the head by Big Pun at a club.

Ghostface confronting 50 and throwing him down some stairs after How To Rob came out.

Jay-Z being taped up and robbed in the west coast by Death Row goons on Suge orders.

G Unit and Eminem, Dre didnt want to be around, backing down Suge Knight during the In Da Club video shoot.

Suge Knight starting the Eazy-E got shot up with AIDS rumor.

Wu and Bone had words on and off wax.
Some of this stuff I'm just now finding out about.

mad i havent seen this thread till now, this about to be my reading material for tonight but ill drop some, may have been said

- Mike Jones having some crazy collabs that never came out, I Dream w/ Z-Ro and Krayzie Bone, had a song with Bobby Brown and TI. He actually did a Kanye song w/ Cons that did come out that is dope
- Spaceghostpurrp squashing the ASAP beef, yams retweeted him and everything but it was all deleted the next day
- Carti being on Awful Records
-
Bun B dropping a song w/ Pimp C, 2pac and Trey Songz in like 09
- Future and Thug having twitter beef for a day
- Rihanna making a real rap type push in 09 after the CB shyt and being good at it
- All the rumors that a rapper in Houston in rapper had a House in Virginia, then Mike Jones suddenly drops a ton of weight after being in hibernation for like 3 years
- Word was AZ got shacked up with a multi millionaire chick and thats why he stopped dropping music, he was on fire in the mid to late 00s music wise

I'll think of more later because a lot of shyt that happened and was rumored online in 06-2011 before the internet was huge just got forgot about

Not surprised

I could tell his label opened the budget for him on the follow up to the WhoIs album. I think it was called American Dream. He had like 9 singles leading into that album AND a movie.

It flopped so bad he disappeared off the face of the earth.

T.I. is the biggest example of how running your mouth too much can ruin your legacy. He legit had a top 5 run in hip hop history but ruined it being a clown on TV & the internet

This happens to everything that gets so big it gets played out.

TI never transitioned his run. Like how Jay-Z "retired". Ti got in trouble and was eventually viewed as a fool for the timing of the trouble and his popularity.

This what i always felt did him in, Paper Trail was made him a superstar and he was supposed to put the bs behind him and ends up going back to jail and had fans like :gucci:nikka again? :camby:

I wasn’t even a TI fan like that, but his run leading up to and a bit after Paper Trail was incredible in real time, then went to prison and I don’t think he dropped another good album until that ‘Us Or Else’ EP.

This is more on me but I didn’t know. That Wayne’s The Drought is Over series of mixtapes wasn’t official. The Dj “The Empire” gotten his hands on some Wayne leaks, and released them as mixtapes. Wayne even called him out during an interview with Drama.

The Empire responding to Wayne’s Drama interview.

In fiction retcons are when something new is revealed...it changes the entire past narrative to the point that it's the accepted fact that was ALWAYS true.

Hip hop is not supposed to be fiction...but rappers often lie, hide things, keep their mouth shut and try to undermine things. Both the hip hop media and message boards like these are also full of lying revisionists and people who simply weren't around trying to speak on things they never saw happen in real time to even remeber.

Name any event or thing you remember that's either nearly wiped from history, the internet, or forgotten about. Here's my list

Stan Spit's early association with the Diplomats as well as his subsequent Cam'ron beef.

Currensy's run with Lil Wayne in the infancy of "Young Money"

Hutch and Kokane's part in the Ruthless vs Death Row beef

Snoop being part of a reunited NWA in the early 2000s

Lil Wayne criticizing Jay for coming back then apologizing. (Which is odd because seemingly everyone remembers Jeezy's comments about Nas and they reference it in that very same interview)

40 Cal announcing there would be a Nas diss on Broken Safety 2

Game and Wayne "blood brothers" mixtape announced, tracklist put up on dubcnn, and the release of lyrical homicide

The other version of 4321. Had a different beat than the original or the album version. LL had a longer verse. Canibus verse is shorter than the original but longer than the album version with no X verse. It was in very poor quality though
I don’t think this stuff is “retconned” as much as it was just simply not important enough for anyone to remember or care about. Stan Spit breh? :comeon:
