I have been cutting my own hair for the past 6 years. Saved me a bunch of money.

Now if it's a special occasion, then I'll go to a barber.

I started locking my hair when it was real short with one of those hair sponges in early 2020.

Never put any greases or oils in my hair, either. Just used black soap with a scalp massager to wash it once or twice a week.

That scalp massager really works? I probably should get a silk pillow case too.

I got a mini fro that I sponged, but it's not really locking.

Yeah, the massager is really good at pulling up dandruff, dirt, lint, and whatever else out your hair and scalp. Plus, it just feels relaxing on your head :ahh:

Go on youtube and look up the best lineup clippers and the best clippers for whatever else you need. I've been doing my lineup since I was in 8th grade in-between cuts. Then when i grew my locs out i dont go into the shop i just line my own shyt up. The back of the neck and side of the neck can be tricky so if you live with a competent person they should be able to line that up for you. Its not hard.

Just dont get fancy right away and dont cheap out on clippers. Thats the biggest mistake. Get you something you can zero gap. Dont get andis dem shyts suck and they get hot quick. The whal jants was cool but the motor on em fukks up so dont get those either.

Take your time and look up some vids on tips of self line ups. I promise youtube will be your best friend. You'll save yourself years of trail and tribulations.

I’m going to throw this out there too. If you plan on getting into this for the long haul spend the extra cash and get battery powered. Way more convenient and you’re more likely to do the quick maintenance stuff every few days. I have battery powered edgers and wish I would have got the battery powered Oster Fast Feeds instead of the corded ones.

You didn’t ask me but I’ll share. I used to only edge myself up between cuts. Started off with a set of used Andis Outliner for about a decade. Got some Wahl Detailers and they were decent. Got some Oster Fast Feed clippers that I use for my beard and mustache, also used them to cut my son’s hair for a couple of years. I got the Bevel edgers and won’t get anything not battery powered again.

I learned how to cut like 20 years ago and never looked back. I haven't been in a barbershop since 2004.
This, minus the rare occasion i'll go to a wedding or something where I'll get a cut.

It ain't hard to give yourself a ceaser and edge up :manny:

40 dollars is not bad :ehh: Then again I only get a haircut once a year (I like to grow my hair out).

I cut my own hair, it's very easy to give yourself a light Caesar haircut. That's what I did a couple days ago.

Just come join bald game breh…..

No shade (atleast not from me) but @HarlemHottie already told @RehReh your hairline bopping like like that Fat Joe song

Rn i use the andis t outliner for my line up( which is exactly why im telling you not to get them). Hopefully I'll be switching them out for the saber trimmer (the green one) if it goes on sale for black friday.

I use whal clippers that i got from walmart from my temple fade. But ima switch those out for something else too.

I pay $35(including tip) for a taper every 2 weeks. A few months ago, my barber raised the price by 50%, it was $20(before tip), I maintain by lining it up between cuts.

Exactly when I started to cut mine. Took me a solid 6 months before I stopping messing my cut up tho. Used to burn my fingers and head up too because I would obsess over my cut so long. I used to not even oil my blades lol. Only takes about 30 minutes to cut, fade, and edge my hair and beard now.
I can get my beard PERFECTLY. Lined up crispy and blended nicely. I just can't seem to get the fade/taper correct no matter how many youtube videos I watch
:mjcry:
