Moss 500. You don't even have to pull the trigger, just cock it once. Any intruder with sense leaves immediately

I hate this statement...maybe it might play out that way in some instances...but in others you are also just giving away your position and that can be a deadly mistake especially in a situation w/ multiple armed intruders who might panic and start shooting immediately...there’s no perfect answer to handling a break-in but there are too many variables to be giving half-truths...if you have to rack that shyt be prepared to fire it tho...it’s not a game...and I do agree w/ your weapon of choice

All that shyt is obvious and I’ve already taken gun safety courses

If you still have concerns about "misses going a 1/2 mile and hitting a school bus or something" either it's not sinking in or you just don't understand guns or guns just aren't for you.

Thieves aren't murders or violent criminals. 90% of the time if you just turn on a light or yell "HEY" or "GET OUT OF HERE!" a thief is going to run.

A common thief ain't going to fight you, tie up your family and murder them.

Now if the thief knows you, knows you have money in a safe in your bedroom closet or under your stairs, under your bed, thats a completely different dynamic of crime.

A common thief looking for cash or valuables will flee, they'll hit another lick. That's what they do.

Someone who knows you or knows you have something are likely to fight you, shoot you, harm you or your loved ones.

The majority of the time people get hurt or killed are when home/property owners attack. Most of the time common thieves want to flee but homeowners obviously want them caught and to go to jail or whatever but they don't always win the fist fight, gun fight and often times thieves are armed. A thief might break into your garage with a crowbar you come out and rush him, that thief who initially intended no harm now has to defend himself and is probably going to use that crowbar.

There's plenty of stupid people locked up for theft, burglary, multiple repeat offenders who have never physically harmed someone.

Do you have a single story house? is there anybody else in the house with you, pets included ?

If you have anyone else in the house especially, I would rethink it over a handgun

also while Dave's method sounds good for a joke when using a gun to protect yourself you shouldn't be "warning" people

All that shyt is obvious and I’ve already taken gun safety courses

I’m not relying on made up on the spot “odds” and “percentages” when it comes to a home invasion...I gave the OP a realistic scenario he should very well be aware of...if he decides simply racking a shotty and hoping the burglar(s) scatter off the sound of it then good luck to him but he should be aware that some burglars will just simply realize where he is and aim and shoot (a) out of fear or (b) bcuz they really on some serious shyt...me making him aware of another outcome should not be considered the grounds for a pissing contest...just making him aware of a plausible scenario that could end in him losing his life if he’s not careful...home invasions end in murder enough times for him to be aware of different scenarios and how they can play out

:yeshrug: Bro, a wrong move and those 12 guage buckshots are hitting everything 90+ degree radius in front of it.

Besides if its multiple intruders of course I am shooting. :manny:

fair enough...truth be told...OP just needs to take it slow and start off w/ a gun class if he hasn’t done so already...I have a shotgun and some other shyt that’s “cool” I have in the event some world-ending shyt kicks off (I’ll probably still be dead w/in 24 hours lmao) but imo a handgun is still tops for me for home defense...I had the same concerns OP had before I got into guns but that was bcuz I didn’t know better...taking a course...getting my CCW and time on the range helped out a lot...it’s cool to have these talks online but if OP is serious then he shouldn’t just simply go out and buy a shotgun and think that’s it

A home invasion by definition is when someone forces there way into a household with the intent to harm someone.

So if he's running his mouth and someone kicks in his door to best his ass, that's on him. A scary sounding gun ain't going to save him, because they obviously want ti hurt him.

If a person knows he has 5g's in a Nike shoe box under his bed next to his nightstand. They arent going to leave without the money.

Someone sneaking around cause his dumb ass left the garage door open or one of his windows is likely to flee once a light comes on or they hear a voice.

If he's hiding in his bathroom with the door locked racking the slide or whatever he's doing, it's not likely that someones going to shoot him. Once again that dynamic changes if the intruder knows him or knows he has something he wants.

If op decides to chase the intruder down the street yeah he's probably going to get shot at and killed but that's a situation he put himself into.

Once again this is all stuff covered in ccw and home defense classes. There's entire legislation built around this.

There's reasons you can't shoot people in the back as they run away. Even if you walk down stairs and someone is holding your flatscreen you cannot shoot them over property. There's castle laws, duty to retreat as well as stand your ground laws. All are different and all will get most untrained and educated people locked up.

I don't know what the fukk youre talking about

I took a gun safety class MPs taught on a military base. Background of your shots was a part of the training. And it was part of hunter gun safety course too. :sas2:

My dad told me hand guns are better for defense.

With a shotgun you need room to maneuver, gotta raise to fire etc. Hand gun is very hard to grab, you can fire from the hip, etc.

Thats what I like about bullpups. Much shorter weapon. I bet you proper shooting form is shorter than handgun extension too.
