I worked with a dude from Mississippi and based on what he told me, I wouldn't recommend it.

Jackson is the largest city in Mississippi, and it's along the blackbelt region, so there will be a large concentration of blacks. I haven't been there to visit (only driven through) really ever in my life, so I couldn't tell you what it's like. I don't make it a habit to comment on places I really don't know about. I'm sure anybody could find their place around there if they really tried.
