Pretty much. I remember around the time I was 15-22, my whole outlook on getting with chicks was to just be that guy they could depend on.
Dude who would take you to the movies, or to a show, not look at any other chicks and just be an ambiguous dude chicks could mold into whatever suited them 'Oh, he my friend!' *Rubs cheek* 'Ain't you boo?'
