Yep...classic aggro-funk skating rink jam. But is that all it is?
Check the verses.

You were the girl that changed my world
You were the girl for me
You lit the fuse, I stand accused
You were the first for me

You were my thrills, you were my pills
You dropped a bomb on me
You turned me out, you turned me on
You turned me loose, and you turned me wrong

Just like Adam and Eve, said you set me free
You took me to the sky, I'd never been so high
You were my pills, you were my thrills
You were my hope, and you were my smoke

Most of the lines in this song begin with the word "you", which shows action was done to the subject...but the difference between this song and many others like it is what's conveyed in the red terms; the subject takes ownership of their feelings and re-actions. Charlie admits he is rightfully "accused" of being "wrong" after being "turned on", "turned out", and "turned loose"...and he does it in a manner that seems to say he isn't ashamed - or perhaps, even unregretful...or even, happy.

Notice "my pills", "my smoke"...having "the bomb dropped" on you is likened to being on drugs. But for drugs to effect you, you have to take them. And the fact they are prefaced with "my" showed a willingness to do that.

As for "my hope" - that's exactly what it is. Nobody can give you your hope...that's what you want based off of what you know. Again, ownership of that is taken here.

We were in motion, felt like lotion
You were the girl for me
You were the first explosion turned out to be corrosion
You were the first for me

"First explosion"...that's that first nut. A dude don't forget that first nut.
Which is why you find this the next time they hit the chorus:

I won't forget what you done to me, baby (you dropped a bomb on me)

..and that's underscored in the bridge:

I, I-I, I-I-I won't forget it
I, I-I, I-I-I won't forget it (x like 20 or so)

Let's be real: we don't know the circumstances surrounding Charlie Wilson (or anybody else who may have helped write this) losing their virginity (and I'm not asking, lol). I say that to say...he could've been touched by an older woman, for example. There are a bunch of folks who say they were, and as a result got "turned on", "turned out", and "turned wrong". It could have nothing to do with anything like that. But frankly - it doesn't matter for us to get the point of this song. All we were given was the result.

For the most part, a woman is not gonna write a song like this. Even if it is on the same topic, it won't be executed the same way. Why? Maybe it has to do with what @Honey Bee was saying yesterday. Maybe women just don't feel comfortable enough to put their real feelings out there and own them. But that's another thread.

Shout out to Betty Wright.
