My thing is if Europeans convinced black people in America that they weren't actually from America, why didn't they do the same for parts of Africa?

Why didn't they tell Nigerians that they were actually from some other unknown location? Why didn't they tell Australian Aboriginals that they were from Africa?

It's weird that they didn't do this to any other location. Also, where did the people who we currently call Native Americans come from?

Deep down, a lot of Black men and women are ashamed of our history, of being brought over as slaves and regarded as the bottom of the barrel in American society, the latter of which continues to this day.

The ever-so-frustrating irony is that with us having overcome slavery, Jim Crow laws, having fought in the Civil War AND Revolutionary War, and having led the charge for civil rights, it should actually instill us with MORE pride in our identity than some random 3rd generation white American whose grandparents arrived to Ellis Island in the 30's.

Sure, our past as Black people may not be as revered in the media as other groups in America (think of the glorification of knights, samurai, vikings, royal families, etc), but this grants us an ample opportunity to build towards a greater FUTURE.

Our past struggles and vilification should unite us, not instill us with low self-worth to the point that we believe in nonsense to mask our feelings of shame.

Many Black people prefer to live in the land of fan fiction and revisionist history, though.
