The mentality is absolutely fine if it doesn't overtake your life in it's entirety.
Some of the Coli brehs in this thread are making it seem like you should choose abstract concepts like "reputation" over a solid living, and that's not the case.
I plan on going in to Investment Banking as an Analyst for 2 years before I go to law school, they work about 75-80 hours a week average, and the salary is like $135k-$145k a year plus bonuses, I'll be in my early twenties and I have no problem doing that. I may not have as much time to go clubbing or find women to have random sex with, but that wasn't what I was about to begin with
I also think the issue with illegal activity in the pursuit of money is largely because Black people who have the "money is everything" mentality, and who rob and sell drugs do it in small time, and in their own communities. Look at the Pink Panthers, an Eastern European group of thieves who have made hundreds of millions. Not only are they given plots in television shows and movies, they've gained an intrigue/mystique about them. They have that same mentality, but they also don't destroy their own communities, and are successful. If you have that mentality, and are successful, then there is nothing wrong with it. If you are a failure with that mindset, then there's a problem.
