All due respect, please don't think like an idealist and read between the lines. Given her medical attention, why wasn't a procedure performed earlier and why was she in position the leave the hospital without medical attention. The reason why I don't like articles like this because it's surface level information and doesn't attempt to follow journalism which is answering the why.

To answer your second question, It sounds like she wasn’t admitted to an actual bed and was in the ER. As long as you can walk up to the gate that separates the ER from the waiting room and have someone hit the button to let you out, no one stops you.

This is from my experience being at and working at a hospital.

Your first question needs to be answered though, because it’s the most important one.
