It's really incredible to me because he's doing this as an American who really has no need to. It's just out of pure desire

If you go to other parts of the world youll see people flip back and forth between 5+ languages, but it's out of necessity for business or just day to day survival. Many countries in Africa like that as well as in Europe. Common for South Africans to speak 12+ languages

Damn dude is a genius. I can vouch that his mandarin is really good and his Cantonese is decent. Cantonese is harder for the tones. Mandarin is pretty common for others to speak but Cantonese is pretty niche unless you from hk. If I met a non Chinese speaking Cantonese i would be super impressed.
