So what? that's not how it works before it gets FDA approval and gets approval for the general population. Test subjects can begin ASAP, mass production is usually 2-3 year process, this might be quick and only take 1-2 years

They Skip a year's worth of steps just for human testing. That why I said December to February which would be a year since the virus hit.

OP is correct. Pandemics throughout history (i.e. The Spanish Flu) have been known to occur in waves. We're experiencing the first wave and we're likely to see another wave this Fall. And this is the optimistic scenario and assuming that warm weather will slow down the spread of the virus. Periodic shelter in place orders will be our way of life until a vaccine is developed.

It'll take 12-18 months so you're probably right. Our government is not being honest or preparing people for what this is. Things won't be substantially better by Easter lol. Nor will a one time $1200 check suffice.

Viruses mutate. Japan has released news about reoccurring illnesses where someone beats the virus then gets it again a few weeks later. A vaccine will certainly help but it won't eliminate this. Especially not in our society where you got people who refuse vaccines. I think one change that's gonna happen is that employers will start demanding you get the vaccine. Similar to how some jobs demand you get a flu shot or else.
