History has shown us that it'll probably come back in the winter as a worse mutation than this present one we're fighting.

But it will go away.

Bruh, enough with that "I got CV last year" shyt.

All of the sudden everyone had a strange illness last year :gucci:

shyt was barely off the meat market in December.

I had a weird ass illness last year too. Worst sore throat ever, tested negative for strep mono and the flu. Sometimes you just get weird bugs. Doesnt mean its corona.

It's a very real possibility that there was a minor first wave that was less deadly that went unnoticed before the second more deadly wave comes through to decimate the population. This could probably give those who were originally infected some kind of immunity. It was the same with the Spanish flu pandemic.

and 12-18 months is the length of time suggested for a vaccine and some people want to ride it out until they are guaranteed safety.

“Some people” would be the low risk population getting out there and resuming their lives, jobs, or restarting their businesses

Literally no on on this forum is an expert on the virus and even doctors aren’t experts on this virus so that really doesn’t matter

actually it does matter to me. I don’t trust the opinions or solutions from people that have no facts/evidence as support. I respect your opinion of course, but it’s safe to say you don’t have the answers to this. At this point no one does yet. :francis: But by all means if you have an opportunity to get back out there and work, I hope you take it. :yeshrug:

Just want to point out that the coronavirus is a little different from the flu. They don’t know for certain if it is seasonal. I caution everyone about jumping the gun and making extreme statements on both sides. From tinfoil conspiracy theories to those freaking out in panic, to those saying this is just like the flu and isn’t a big deal. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it is annoying to see false information, extreme statements, and pulled out of the ass solutions. Just as an FYI here are the differences between the coronavirus and the flu.

Why coronavirus is not like the flu

NPR Choice page

1. COVID-19 is novel, or new. That means there's no vaccine, and it's unclear how it will manifest;

2. This strain of coronavirus appears to infect two to 2.5 people versus 1.3 with the flu, so coronavirus seems to be about twice as contagious as the flu;

3. Some 20% of coronavirus patients are in serious enough condition to go to the hospital, 10 times the number who wind up in the hospital because of the flu;

4. Hospital stays for the coronavirus are twice as as long as for the flu;

5. About 8% of people get the flu every year. Some estimates are 25% to 50%, possibly up to 80%, could get the coronavirus without drastic actions being taken by individuals, states and municipalities and the federal government;
6. The coronavirus could be 10 times deadlier than the flu — about 0.1% who get flu die. It's estimated that about 1% of those who have gotten coronavirus have died from it;

7. There are treatments for the flu. There are no approved treatments for the coronavirus, despite the president's optimism for certain drugs, which are untested for coronavirus to this point; and
8. The flu tends to wane in warm weather, but it's too soon to count on that for coronavirus, which is thriving in warm, tropical places.

Yvette Carnell recently talked about how a lot of black adults, because of systemic racism and our place in society, live with their elders - parents, grandparents, etc. What you are suggesting will put a lot of black elders at risk. Or, are we just going to ship off all the black elders to quarantined sites? You this society will give enough of a fukk to do that? Would you even trust them to look after our black elders and not just close the door, lock it and leave them to die? :francis:

"There won't be an economy if we return to work."

Bullshyt. The vast majority of the people that catch this shyt will be available to work and participate in the economy within 2 weeks of catching it. Secondly, you cant make this analysis without considering the cost of a collapsed society. Many will die in either scenario.

If you live with the elderly I wouldn’t consider you low risk.

Neither side presents facts so both are idiots

Binary Thinkers: "It only affects elderly people....idk the numbers though"

Non-Binary Thinkers: "Y'all are wrong....idk the numbers though"

Everybody is being exposed for being victims of panic and stupidity.

300 murders a year
This virus exposed ignorance on this forum. When news first broke dudes here were posting :russell:, then saying dumb shyt like this don't effect black people. Over time as the virus has spread, its turned from :russell: to:ohhh:.
Sure did

Had people talking nonsense about melanin saving them and just turn your 5G phone off or dont sleep with it close to you and you will be fine :snoop:

I said from the off set, protect your dam self! We don't know what anything fully is right now this virus is likely still mutating and affecting people in different ways. At 1st they were speaking of this being a new form of flu or pneumonia now we seeing it attack the respiratory system. Dont be no dam fools and think your superhuman melanin will protect you smh

Now as humans we will overcome this our bodies are amazing and we will adjust. But we still need to be cautious. I'm glad african nations and Caribbean countries and many of us here didnt adhere to the social media nonsense of us being protected and doctors asking why we not catching it. We for the most part are responding correctly.

Some of you guys don’t live in reality you not going to lock down this country but for so long
And it ain’t just because the economy it’s the nature of humans.
Yet other countries are able to do this and get it over with. We are just a selfish country that can't project consequences or rewards even 1 month into the future.

People who think in black and white, left and right, up and down, beef and broccoli, peanut butter and jelly. You actually have arguments being bandied about to the effect of, "well, if it only kills tha elderly, why should we shut down tha whole economy?"

First, it doesn't only kill the elderly, though they seem to be the most vulnerable to its more ravaging effects. People in their 20s, 30s and 40s are dying after contracting this virus, many of whom in the U.S. If we take Trump's advise and return to work, spreading the virus freely, millions will need hospitalization, of whom a frightening number will die - young and old. There won't be an economy if we return to work. Why is this so difficult for some of you to grasp?

:snoop:
You're catastrophizing which is also a type of cognitive distortion.
You're engaging in the same type of shyt you're accusing people of. nikkas learn a new term and run off brandishing it. SMH
